Behind our experience of life is an invisible universe,
largely unseen, only occasionally glimpsed.
Behind every blessing taken for granted,
is a whole world which made it possible.
Behind a glass of clear drinking water,
are many folks who worked to make it possible.
Behind today's newspaper,
are life-risking journalists who made information available.
Behind last night's Dharma talk,
is a lineage of teachers back to the Buddha who made the Truth available.
It is hard to even come close to appreciating
the hardships countless others have anonymously beared for us.
Behind any one thing is every other thing.
All in one, one in all.
Interdependent totality.
Everything is made possible by everything.
Be grateful to all then,
because we are indeed indebted to all.
